It’s all change at The Hoxton, Southwark where you’ll now find not one, not two but FOUR exciting pop-ups all under one roof.
Located on the ground floor in the area affectionately referred to as Albie, this is your all-day hangout area. Part lobby, part bar, there’s loads of cosy seating both inside and outside on the cute terrace. For mega holiday vibes, we planted ourselves out front, zapped the new COVID-friendly QR code menus and got stuck in.
Depending on the time of day you’ll have access to four completely separate menus: Pecking Order, Tandoor Tacos, Tandoor Chop House, and Eggbreak. The first two are completely new concepts and the lovely thing is, you can mix and match to your heart’s content! So if half of your table have a craving for chicken and the other are tempted by tacos, it’s not a problem. Hurrah! But we say, why have one when you can have both.
Pecking Order
These guys are all about the Nashville-style hot fried chicken. Free-range and double dredged, Pecking Order salt their birds overnight and coat in a tasty Tabasco buttermilk marinade. Trust us, the crispy crust is mega. Pick your spice level – Spice Up Your Life (medium), Hot in Here (hot), or Fire It Up (gonna blow your head off) and order in a variety of ways. We went for the ‘Half A Cluck’ which is a box of 4 pieces of chicken on the bone, alongside the ‘Saucy Sandwich’, a boneless fried chicken sando with slaw and secret recipe Pecking Order sauce. Save space for the sides which include a pint of pickles, house slaw, ziggy fries and mac & cheese.

Tandoor Tacos
The sexy spin-off to Tandoor Chop House, Tandoor Tacos have come up with a very exciting Indian-Mexican hybrid. Flaky paratha breads have been loaded up taco-style with 5 flavours to choose from. If you’re feeling up to it we’d recommend getting them all but if we HAD to choose, the ‘Ewe Lit’ filled with spiced lamb keema, sour onions, pickled cucumber, yoghurt and chutney was our joint-favourite, alongside the veggie-friendly ‘Great Paneer’ with deep-fried battered cheese, sweet onion, green herb and chilli chutney and pickled fennel.

Whichever menu you go for, there’s a fab selection of Hox signature cocktails to wash it all down with. Try the super refreshing Dutch Tale with vodka, bergamot, grapefruit and lemon soda or the oh-so-pretty Parfume de Provence with St Germain Liquor, Tio Pepe, orange blossom & champagne. Ooo la la!
