Duck & Waffle Local

Duck & Waffle Local

Get off at Piccadilly Circus and make your way through the hordes of tourists towards the beacon that is Duck & Waffle local. Serving brunch seven days a week until 4pm each day, they’ve got your back.

More low key then Duck & Waffle in the city, but no less delicious, the service is still spot on and the vibe is fun and fast-paced (although we ended up spending hours there – we’re just too damn chatty & the cocktails too tasty!)

Despite being more accessible, corners haven’t been cut. The cocktail guru that is Rich Woods has cast his spell over the drinks menu – here you’ll find his unique on-tap cocktails, affectionately referred to as ‘Taps & Tails’. A big fan of breakfast booze, we loved the ‘breakfast fizz’, with Grey Goose L’Orange, pink grapefruit, and a fragrant burnt toast infusion.

Kick things off with their bacon wrapped dates (we can never resist these guys!) and the truffled crispy polenta bites which are all cheesy and gooey inside. You only get two per portion though so you might want to order a few – they’re THAT good.

If it’s your first time at a D&W then you really need to have their namesake – crispy confit duck served with a fried egg on a fluffy waffle. However, we were ready to branch out so went for their rather epic duck burger. Crispy duck leg, crushed noodles for texture, miso mayonnaise and spiced slaw all sandwiched between a soft brioche bun. So incredibly messy but worth getting through a million napkins for. Order a side of their salty rosemary fries and tenderstem broccoli for balance.

Make sure you save room for dessert as the sweet waffle selection is unmissable. Picture this – house-made Nutella squidged into every waffle pore, studded with hazelnuts and vanilla ice-cream and topped with a cartoon-perfect caramelised banana half. I mean – what are you still doing reading this – go, go go.

From 4pm – 7pm Monday through Friday, Duck & Waffle Local have a happy hour, and are offering their cocktail, drink and bar snack menus from half-price at the bar, with cocktails starting at just £5 and bar snacks £3.
