Somerset House has two very exciting foodie weekends coming up that we wanted to tell you about.
WADADLI Days & Nights
Saturday 15 June, 12.00 – 20.00 & Sunday 16 June, 12.00 – 18.00
The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, Somerset House
First is Wadadli Days & Nights this weekend. TV chef Andi Oliver and musician Neneh Cherry are transforming the Somerset House courtyard into the ultimate sound-system street party as they cook some incredible dishes, plus live performances from one of Britain’s largest steel bands around the fountains. Dishes include Wadadli BBQ chicken, salt fish fritters, BBQ smoked chilli & tamarind glazed tofu, and Oliver’s signature 10hr slow cooked chocolate curry goat rotis. Say no more, we’re IN!
Generation Get Up! Weekend
Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 June 2019, 10.00 – 20.00
Then next weekend they’ll be marking the new national Windrush Day with Generation Get Up! KERB is bringing a host of African and Caribbean street food stalls to take over Somerset House’s courtyard, alongside a series of free interactive events, exclusive film screenings and talks, including a special Q&A with actor, director and writer Kwame Kwei-Armah OBE. Documenting the diverse collective identity of Britain, visitors can also have a free professional portrait taken in pop-up photography studio Backgrounds.
