Join us and get in the festive spirit at CRATE’s Winter Escape Festival, a celebration of beer, music, food and creative demos, supporting sustainability and local craft, on Saturday 30th November.
Hosted in Mick’s Garage, CRATE’s open-plan warehouse, the space will be decked out with overhead festoon lighting and outdoor fire pits surrounded by upcycled furniture to get settled into. Throwing open the doors at midday, CRATE has invited its favourite London breweries to help them in keeping all beer-lovers’ glasses topped up into the evening, including Three Sods Brewery, the award-winning brewery in the heart of Bethnal Green, Deviant and Dandy, Hackney’s very own independent craft brewery, and Neckstamper Brewing hailing from Walthamstow. Before making their way to the Makers Market where they can pick up last minute hand-made Christmas gifts from craft makers such as jewellers Emma Aitchison and Promises, Promises, festival-goers will be able to choose from a number of local independent food producers including CRATE’s stone-baked pizzas.
Giving visitors the chance to peek behind the scenes, CRATE’s beer experts will be leading hourly tours of the brewery and its taprooms, as well as tea workshops by tea guru Don Mei of Camden speciality tea-shop Mei Leaf. Alongside masterclasses on how to make your own kombucha by JARR Kombucha’s Adam Vanni, you’ll also have the chance to learn how to wheel-throw at pottery workshops led by Potters Thumb, the Brighton-based pottery studio, who co-developed the innovative recycled-glass crockery used at CRATE’s new zero-waste arrival, Silo. The festival will move to the beat of a line-up of live music including Galaxians, the Leeds-based three piece that combines live instrumentation and dance-floor energy, and Lunch Money Life, London’s own experimental jazz band, as well as DJs Pato, Joshua Murfitt and The Iron Glove. For those who want to continue the party, CRATE’s warehouse will be transformed into Mick’s Garage for Club Mick’s, East London’s renowned late-night dance club.
Tom Seaton, Co-founder of CRATE Brewery says, “CRATE has become a much loved summer destination for Londoners to enjoy the sun on the banks of River Lea, but now the summer’s well and truly finished we’re giving CRATE a winter makeover – for those who can’t make it on the 30th, CRATE will stay a wintery oasis throughout the whole season so we’re expecting to see guests continue the party over the next few months.”
CRATE Brewery’s Winter Escape Festival will take place on the 30th November and will be free to attend. For those that can’t make the Winter Festival, CRATE’s winter transformation will stay up into the New Year. To get your free ticket to the festival, please go here.
