The Crab Tavern, a newly opened restaurant in booming dining hub Broadgate Circle, is hosting an 80s themed unlimited boozy brunch to start your weekends off right! The all-day seafood restaurant and bar merges New York style with a menu of classic dishes and cocktails.
The brunch is themed around Club Tropicana so expect classic 80s tunes from the DJ and an abundance of props to dress up in if the mood takes you. An (extremely delicious!) piña colada served in a whole pineapple should give you an idea of the look they’re going for!
The price of the brunch includes a Tavern sharer starter, a choice of main dish and a dessert board, alongside unlimited drinks which includes, wine, beer and ‘build your own’ Bloody Marys from a pop-up station.
The starter platter was huge and consisted of a mix of Fried Black Pepper Squid, Dressed Crab Caesar Subs, Crab Waffle, Jerk Fried Shrimp, Prawn Cocktail, Crispy Whitebait and, slightly off the crab theme, Tavern Pork Belly Ribs. The platter was mixed, for us the best bits were the crab waffle, squid and surprisingly the pork ribs!
There’s a large choice of mains including seafood specialities Surf & Turf Salad alongside classic brunch dishes Eggs Benedict and the Full Monty. We recommend the Soft Shell Crab burger served in a brioche bun with red pepper jelly and shiso old bay fries which were crisp and fluffy.
Already feeling pretty stuffed for a Saturday lunchtime there’s still the dessert board to contend with! This consists of bitesize pieces of Pecan Tart, Deep-filled Apple Pie, Bourbon and Maple Soaked Waffle and Chocolate Brownie. All of the desserts were delicious – the brownie in particular was soft and gooey with a rich, but not too sweet, chocolate flavour. However, at 3pm after all of the above, we have to admit it did push us over the edge meaning we couldn’t even entertain the thought of food for the rest of the day!
The Crab Tavern Boozy Brunch is held from 1-3:30pm and costs £45 per person. Our advice – don’t eat ANYTHING before and make sure you pace yourself!
THIS VENUE HAS NOW CLOSED.
