Balls & Company, Soho’s first gourmet meatball restaurant which recently opened on Greek Street in Soho, has announced it will launch Company Below, a new speakeasy-style cocktail bar in the restaurant’s basement, this Friday 2nd October.
General Manager and Head Bartender Cyril Alcazar has curated the new cocktail list, which includes his signature ‘Company Iced Tea – red wine, earl grey & orange-infused vodka, raspberry & strawberry purée, agave & orange brûlée’, as well as the house ‘Almond Sour – amaretto, bourbon, almond butter, egg white, lemon juice & maraschino cherry’ and the juicy ‘Off Beets – gin, fresh beetroot purée, lingonberry, lemon juice & demerara sugar’ (all from £8).
The underground bar will also offer a bar snack menu including arancini balls, polenta chips with rosemary salt and Balls & Company’s famous brownie dessert, served with Persian fairy floss and ice cream (from £4).
Opened in July by Australian-born chef Bonny Porter, Balls & Company has shaken up the London casual dining scene and single-item menu trend in the capital, offering a meatball menu with a bit of class. Diners at the main restaurant can choose between five varieties of meatball, all made using the highest quality meat and ingredients, with all but one of dishes gluten-free. Balls on offer include ‘Wagyu beef’, ‘Pork, ricotta, parmesan, pine nuts, basil & sage’ and a vegetarian option of ‘Quinoa, beetroot & feta’. You then choose a sauce, ranging from the classic tomato to the more robust ‘Romesco with red pepper, almonds, hazelnuts & garlic’.
The menu also offers a revolving selection of seasonal salads and side dishes such as ‘Mac & Cheese’ arancini .
