This May sees the return of Chang Sensory Trails, which if you didn’t catch it last time, is a fusion of food, art and music, all under one roof. It kicks off at Last Days of Shoreditch on 12th May followed by a CST on wheels tour in Birmingham (June), Manchester (July) and Edinburgh (August).
On arrival you’ll be able to dive into live music from the likes of the Soul Strutters and CDD Trio Band, take part in some interactive art, and of course wash it all down with your fill of Chang beer.
However, if we’re totally honest what we’re most excited about is the FOOD! Chang have teamed up with eight of their favourite Thai chefs, each of which are coming along with their signature dish for you to sink your teeth into.
We headed to Bang Bang Soho on Brewer Street to get a sneak peak of what will be on offer on the big day. Their star dish is the beef rump rendang and if that’s anything to go by, we are in for a TREAT. Traditionally a dry Indonesian dish, BBS have given it a Thai twist and served it in a gloriously creamy coconut curry sauce. It’s packed full of aromatic herbs, not to mention big chunks of slow cooked steak and as you might expect, is perfect washed down with a bottle of Chang.
Here’s a flavour of what else to expect from the restaurants taking part…
Tawana – Moo Yang Jim Jael: Grilled pork loin, thai-style, marinated with Thai herbs and served with ground roasted rice
Patara – Chicken Massaman: Coconut milk braised chicken in a mild homemade curry of warm spices with peanuts, onions, potatoes and crispy onion to finish
101 Thai Kitchen – Pad Grapow Chicken: Stir-fried chicken with chillies, garlic and basil, served with steamed rice and fried egg
LAO Café – Papaya Salad Thai-Lao style: The famous Laotian salad. Spicy & zingy with a customisable level of spice
Rosa’s Thai Café – Tom Yum Noodles: Zingy & spicy rice noodles in Tom Yum-flavoured garnishes
Thai Tho Restaurant – Green Chicken Curry: Authentic Thai green curry with chicken, chilli, bamboo shoot and sweet basic
Nipa Thai – Phad Thai Koong: Fried rice noodles with beansprouts, spring onions, egg and prawns
The event is completely FREE to attend and we’ll be stuffing our face on the chef’s table – come and say hi!
