Having an after-work drink in the middle of a busy London roundabout might not seem like a great idea, but The Magic Roundabout at Old Street is here to prove you wrong.
Originally a 12 month pop up, The Magic Roundabout proved such a hit that is has now been a staple of the area for three years. From Woodstock to 70s Playboy lounge, the venue has seen it all. Development of the land means that sadly, this summer The Magic Roundabout must bid adieu. But they are going out with a bang and launched their new Urban Jungle theme last week. The space sees glowing neon lights, a paradise waterfall, futuristic jungle flora and fauna and plenty more.
Creative Director Sarah Holgate says, “It’s been a remarkable journey from a wasteland on a roundabout to one of London’s most iconic spaces. We have hosted parties with XOYO, Egg LDN and some of Europe’s biggest promoters and top DJs. It will be heartbreaking to see this place go as we’ve truly built up a family over the years. But, we will be pulling out all of the stops for our last season so expect the best decor we’ve ever done and many huge end of summer parties to see us off in style.”
If it’s a quick after-work drink you’re after the bar has a great selection of beer and cider, plus wine, cocktails and, for when the sun is shining, the obligatory Aperol Spritz or Pimms awaits. And if you get hungry after the ‘just one’ becomes three or four, Asian BBQ Smoking Lotus and Burger Bear will sort you out.
Keep an eye out for special events throughout the summer as The Magic Roundabout spins for the last time. This is truly a one of a kind space in London so don’t miss out on the last summer season.
