Pre-Theatre menus often get a bad rep. A reduced menu, OAP dining time and a strict 45min turn around.
Well – STK have turned that model on its head and come up with a cracking little deal, priced at just £30 for three courses available 7 days a week. Ideally located, you’ll want to book it, regardless of whether you’re going to the theatre.
Despite dining on this menu, you’ll still be treated to the infectiously friendly STK service, as well as the infamous blue cheese, pull apart bread with herby dip.
With a choice of three options to start, we recommend the wagyu beef Lil’ Brgs, piled high with melted cheese and popped into little sesame seed buns, don’t even think about eating these like an actual burger. Very messy but utterly delicious.
While the swordfish ceviche is a delicate option for those wanting something a little lighter. Seriously – who is ordering the third option – Garden Salad?? Get out of town.
You can’t really come to STK and not order the steak but that will cost you an additional £5 – money well spent we say. It gets you a 200g rump steak, juicy, cooked just how we asked with a side of mash or fries. The mash was like liquid potato gold – heaven.
However, the non-steak options did sound pretty good (blackened chicken leg with black pudding or crispy bass with gnocchi anyone?).
If you don’t care about bulging out of your LBD, the treacle sponge pudding is incredible, you won’t regret a bite.
I’ll be honest – the crowd is a little bit “out of town” BUT this actually creates a really fun atmosphere. Think groups of people who’ve gone to the effort to get dressed up, maybe for a special occasion, and always for a really good time. Besides, that’s exactly what the sexy space needs, it wouldn’t work any other way.
Get over yourself, order a glass of champagne (£13) and join in.
