We hear the sun is going to be shining this week which is PERFECT because Oval Space have got a FAB new chef taking over the kitchen, you’re not going to want to miss.
Israeli chef Oren has previously hosted supper clubs in The National Gallery with Oliver Peyton and held residencies at the historical F.Cooke pie and jellied eel shop on Broadway Market and at the Common Cafe in Bethnal Green.
And NOW he’s bought his signature Mediterranean cuisine with an Israeli twist to Oval Space’s gorgeous outdoor terrace.
It’s the ideal Friday night – sun trap terrace, DJ’s providing the tunes, incredible food and banging cocktails.
We ADORED the menu. It’s exactly what you want to eat when the sun’s shining. The plates are designed to be shared so grab some mates and order the lot!
To start, freshly chopped tomatoes came on top of a mound of rich tahini, alongside sourdough bread to scoop it all up. Forgot boring bangers, here you’ll find delicately spiced fish kebabs are charred on the BBQ before being served with a dollop of cooling sour cream and sweet peppers.
Fish is a really strong part of the menu and the grilled monkfish didn’t disappoint. Three juicy pieces sit atop BBQ sweet corn and peas. Less easy to share – but blimmin delicious so don’t skip it – is the lamb pitta. Served to bursting with BBQ lamb and drenched in green tahini and a slice of tomato, we WISH our own BBQ’s were this successful.
