To celebrate the arrival of Summer, the award-winning team in the Lobby Bar at One Aldwych hotel has created a limited edition cocktail collection called Botanical Summer, in partnership with Hendrick’s Gin.
These elegant and refreshing Botanical Summer cocktails perfectly complement the floral, zesty and spicy notes that compose Hendrick’s Gin, including juniper, Bulgarian rose, cucumber, angelica, chamomile and orange peel.
We adored the Gardener’s Infusion which came in an impressive chilled porthole infuser, showcasing all the juicy fruit inside.
If you’re feeling a bit peckish the Capri (Campari, rosemary syrup & champagne) is for you – it comes with a little morsel of parmigiana on the side.
Priced at £14.50 each, the limited edition Botanical Summer menu will only be available from 4th July to 30th September 2016.
Cocktails slurped, we got the lift to the mezzanine level and sunk into armchairs ready for the feast ahead.
The entire menu at Indigo is both dairy and gluten free which is extremely handy for the growing number of people needing this, but it’s also not the sole purpose of the menu and shouldn’t put you off at all if you don’t have those dietary requirements.
Don’t expect courgetti and ‘brownies’ made out of dates – this is very grown up food that just happens to be gf & df and isn’t pretending to be anything it’s not.
To start, a fragrant consommé is poured over a variety of chopped tomatoes and two juicy chunks of langoustine. The watercress soup get the same treatment, with the waiter pouring the vivid green liquid over a perfectly poached Burford Brown at the table. A little bit of theatre from the jolly staff.
Veggies are catered for with the seasonal summer veg potato gnocchi and various salad selections, but we opted for the organic lamb with salty samphire and smokey aubergine. Cornish Turbot was perfect alongside buttery new potatoes.
Desserts made us forget the dairy free message – the dark chocolate mousse was fluffy, light and totally decadent with the cherry sorbet & pistachio meringue.
Location-wise One Aldwych would make a fab pre or post-theatre spot and they run a selection of events & offers so check the website for more info.
