EuroCave

If you’re on the lookout for an awesome gift for any wine lover out there or you want to treat yourself to a fancy new wine fridge or cooler, than EuroCave on Chiltern Street is definitely the place to go!

Not only will you find just about any imaginable form of decanter possible or any other wine related gadget, EuroCave sell various wine storage systems (not for your £5 Tesco Pinot Gris!) and are one of the top brands in the world.

For their 40th anniversary they partnered with highly passionate wine buff Liam Steevenson from RED&WHITE, a multi award winning wine merchant (who was also the youngest of only 247 Masters of Wine in the World so we knew we were in good hands!!!) and Galvin Bistrot de Luxe for a lovely evening of wine tasting and canapes.

We learnt many new facts about wine cooling, like the fact that for long term cooling, wines will need humidity levels at ideally 65% with a temperature of around 12 degrees in a dark space and with low vibrations. But these guys at Eurocave sure know how to combine all the technicalities of storing amazing wines with sleek modern style. These aren’t wine fridges you’ll want to keep hidden in a dingy back room, you’ll definitely want to show it off!

The wines on offer were equally stunning and focused on goodies from New Zealand. Starting with a Rockferry Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from Marlborough which was paired with whipped goats cheese and candied walnut and moving on to a Greystone Pinot Gris 2013 from Waipara which had buttery undertones which came along with a very moreish creamy éclair filled with duck liver parfait and Coco De Grue which was truly a perfect match!

The One off Chardonnay from Hawkes Bay 2014 was a surprise hit (we know Chardonnay can divide opinion!) but we were converted and this one ended up being our favourite of the night. Served with slow cooked lamb and sweetbread croquettes, this was pure bliss…We learnt a ton of tips on storing wine and we were briefly transported to New Zealand and with Liam’s excellent storytelling, it almost felt like we were there, exploring it’s different wines.
