As we were waiting for Boris to come on the TV, to announce Lockdown 2.0, we were enjoying our last hurrah, experiencing the new Galvin Afternoon Tea experience at 10º bar.
We’re not in Central London as much as we’d like these days, but heading into this part of town we were reminded by just how special it still feels. Heading up to the summit of the iconic London Hilton on Park Lane, it’s still every bit as magical as it always has been, albeit a little quietier, with the most stunning views over Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and beyond.
The new afternoon tea menu has been created in collaboration with artesian tea brand, Canton Tea, and is served in the sky bar 10º, on the 28th floor.
We kicked off with a glass of champers, a selection of cracking sandwiches and the start of a stunning sunset. What a dreamy combo! The savoury round is always my favourite part, and there were all the classics – roast ham, tomato and mustard on white or corination chicken wraps, as well as more experimental numbers like artichoke, sun blushed tomato, tapenade and basil on bright pink beetroot bread.
Nicely paced with the most exquisite service, once we’d hoovered that selection up we were offered refills on anything we liked (that’ll be everything then!). Next up was a gin cocktail with freshly baked scones – raisin and plain – with strawberry jam, seasonal apple and cinnamon compote and lashings of cream.
Served in a birdcage, the selection of sweet treats is pretty show-stopping. Expect the likes of a green apple mousse, made to look the fruit itself and Valrhona chocolate gateaux. The tea selection features blends favoured by her majesty no less!
As it stands, Lockdown 2.0 ends on the 2nd December and we reckon this is the perfect treat to celebrate restrictions lifting. Book now and enjoy with someone you’ve missed, you’ll love it.
The Afternoon Tea Experience at Galvin at Windows will be served every Friday to Sunday, from 1-4pm
The Classic at £49 per person, The Gin at £59 per person, and for a wonderfully decadent experience – The Champagne, at £63 per person. There will also be a Vegan Afternoon Tea Menu available at the same price for all three tiers.
