This is big news people – bookings are now open for Sam & Sam Clark’s third restaurant, Morito on Hackney Road!
Located just a few minutes from Columbia Road, the new restaurant is light, bright and airy with huge windows and an on point industrial vibe.
Sit at the bar to get in on the action or nab a spot at the window for some seriously good people watching.
In keeping with Moro and Morito on Exmouth Market, Hackney Road draws influences from Southern Spain, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean but alongside the dishes we already know and love, new dishes include; made-to-order Moroccan breads at breakfast, tapas, mezze and larger plates at lunch and dinner, such as asparagus with clams; aubergine manti with yoghurt and pistachios and homemade halloumi with pickled za’atar or kid mechoui with goat’s curd, preserved lemon and harissa and charcoal grilled fish with new season garlic, guindilla chillies and sherry vinegar to share.
We suggest starting with the Pastirma & cheese borek (crispy filo pastry parcels, filled with oozy cheese) and the charcoal grilled quail with a delicious mystery green sauce topped with pomegranate and pistachio – both are to die for.
Follow this with the incredibly tender octopus in red wine sauce over fava purée and don’t miss out on the cheese fritters with Cretan thyme – a caramelised crunchy exterior with melted cheese inside topped with sesame seeds and drizzled with honey, we can’t wait to come back for more of these – cheese heaven! Having said that we had major food envy when the massive plate of slow cooked rabbit came out for our neighbours, slow-cooked with cinnamon and orange served with spicy crisps on the side, definitely one we will order next time we visit.
