London Shell Co.

London Shell Co. is London’s first seafood and wine pairing on a canal boat. Valentine’s Day was the perfect excuse to check them out…

The barge takes you on the picturesque journey from Camden to Little Venice whilst treated to a three course menu featuring The Wright Brothers seafood, all paired with English sparkling wine. Think a barge during a London winter will be chilly? Think again, the My Fair Lady was cosy and warm with plenty of room for service!

Inspired by the oyster bars and crab shacks of New England, Harry and Leah have focused on the culinary and maritime customs of the North Atlantic and its historic trade routes. Signature dishes include a lunchtime New England Clam Chowder (served in hearty bread bowls) and an elegant seafood platter for the dinner sittings.

Neither of us had tried oysters before and probably believed we didn’t like them but were totally proven wrong! In fact the whole menu didn’t have the sea food flavours that can deter the more fussy eater and was actually more hearty and homely than anything. Perfect for the setting and this time of year.

Throughout the journey, Harry and Leah, as well as the menu’s food and wine suppliers (Wright Brothers and Hattingley Valley), share their relaxed and informed knowledge of the produce and they’re not shy with their servings – topping up glasses and chatting to everyone throughout. This isn’t your typical impersonal dining experience, you really are made to feel that you are on the barge together as a group of friends.

As well as on-board entertainment, the new lunch sittings offer the opportunity to see Regent’s Canal in the daylight. London Shell Co.’s upcoming dates now include sittings on Mother’s Day; the perfect dinner to treat your mum or loved one!

Upcoming dates are 5th March / 6th March / 19th March / 20th March and can be booked via GrubClub
