Those crazy cats at Benefit have only gone and transformed a whole bloody boat into a make-up mecca, complete with restaurant, tiki bar and sun deck! With three decks of fun, glamour and pampering, it’s all about setting sail on Good Ship Benefit this summer. Open for five months, this is the ultimate destination for any girly celebration.
Oh the first deck you’ll find a brow bar, a selection of vintage clothing for sale (BOB by Dawn Porter), a cocktail bar, and a dressing up box for selfies!
Meanwhile upstairs you’ll find the sunny Hoola Deck where you can lounge on day beds, whilst sipping cocktails or take part in the exclusive fitness classes they’ll be hosting.
However, we were there to check out the restaurant – Lashitude at the Upper Deck – which boosts impressive views of the London Eye and Houses of Parliament. We were surprised to find a slick all-black dining room, serving up beautifully presented San Francisco inspired dishes.
Start with a bread bowl of authentic clam chowder (to share) or for something a little lighter, grilled asparagus is presented on a slate board, and finished with a confit egg yolk. Main dishes are simple but done well – you can’t beat a perfectly cooked juicy chicken leg with a generous side helping of melty mash potato. San Fran speciality, Sea Trout ‘Cioppino’, is a seriously pimped up fish stew with huge prawns in a rich tomato sauce.

Also, on Sunday 8th May Benefit is embarking on its second annual Bold is Beautiful Project in support of charities Look Good Feel Better and Refuge. Campaign ambassador, Denise van Outen, will lead the annual fundraising march through the streets of central London. Additionally, throughout May, customers who book a brow wax service (£18.50) will receive a complimentary Gimme Brow (worth £18.50, bargain!!) – and all profits from the wax will be donated to the two UK women’s charities.
