The Cheese Bar gets festive with newly launched Fondue Thursday’s – taking place from now until the new year.
You’d be forgiven for thinking The Cheese Bar (with their all-cheese menu) would be a little, ahem, cheesy. The reality however is a very modern little space in the heart of Camden Stables. The pungent smell of cheese hits you the moment you walk through the door – this is one for the true cheese lovers out there. Grab a pew around the central bar (cosy for couples) or there’s a big sharing table which is perfect for larger groups. A large light box takes up the entire back wall, describing all the wonderful British cheeses that The Cheese Bar champion. Think of it as a glossary – a cheese glossary. We want one for our kitchen.
However, we were there for one thing only – FONDUE! There’s a choice of two – a classic four cheese variety or the more rich and decadent blue cheese with chives both of which are made with cider and Kirsch and served with chunks of bread, pickles and cornichons. You then add the accompaniments you want – think pigs in blankets, truffled roast potatoes, and deep fried Brussel sprouts.
There’s a fab selection of crisp Alpine wine suggestions from Les Cave de Pyrene – all of which cut through the rich cheese perfectly. Finish your meal with a shot of Kirsch cherry brandy and traditional apple strudel (what else!) served with lemon and mascarpone ice-cream from La Gelateria.
If Thursday doesn’t work for you – good news! They’ll be taking bookings for fondue any day of the week as long as you’re a party of 6 or more. We can’t think of a better festive feast in town. Pass the Kirsch!
Bookings are available for 2 or more people every Thursday and Christmas party group bookings of 6 + from Monday to Sunday and can be made through The Cheese Bar reservations page:
