Budweiser launches King of BBQs competition with top chef and BBQ expert Neil Rankin.
Budweiser has launched a nationwide hunt for the UK’s best BBQ-er –with Budweiser King of BBQs. Coinciding with National Barbecue Week, and working with top chef and BBQ expert Neil Rankin, the competition is looking to uncover the UK’s ultimate BBQ hero, who can inspire the nation to take up their tongs, fire up the charcoal and create a BBQ to remember this summer.
Budweiser has launched the King of BBQs competition alongside new research, revealing that more than half of Brits (56 per cent) believe Australians are best when it comes to BBQs, with only one in eight (13 per cent) believing that Brits are on top*.
However, the UK still has some BBQ bravado – nearly a quarter of Brits (23 per cent) called themselves confident BBQ-ers, with a further 21 per cent claiming that their BBQ skills are better than their friends’*.
The Budweiser research also suggests that Britain burns a potential 189,526,000 sausages and burgers every summer, with each person owning up to burning an average of 3.86 burgers or sausages per year on the BBQ. That’s over £123 million pounds + worth of food given over to the grill ever year – and enough to get to New York and back twice if laid end to end!

Budweiser King of BBQs – what you need to know:
- The Budweiser King of BBQs competition invites would-be BBQ experts to submit a video or photograph of them showing off their grill skills in the hope of being crowned the Budweiser King of BBQs
- Judges will be looking for entrants who encapsulate Budweiser’s BBQ spirit by showcasing their creative and unique BBQ skills
- Following this, the top three entrants will be invited to a live cook-off on a London rooftop in July, that will be judged by Neil Rankin, smokehouse restaurant group Bodean’s, and Budweiser
- The winner will not only receive the title of the Budweiser King of BBQs, but will also win a brand new luxury BBQ to show off their skills, and a money-can’t-buy complete Bodean’s backyard BBQ kit!
