The award-winning team behind some of London’s best pubs (including The Alma and North by Northwest) is to launch Be-Bop-A-Lula in Stoke Newington on Friday 1st December.
Located on Green Lanes, not far from The Alma which was voted ‘Best Pub in London’ in the Time Out Love London Awards 2016, Be-Bop-A-Lula will be London’s only 50s Rock ‘n’ Roll pub, featuring American diner classics, live bands, quizzes, musical memorabilia, and a 1950s Wurlitzer jukebox with 1000s of classics, exclusive to Be-Bop-A-Lula.
Forget your standard gastropub, Be-Bop-A-Lula will be a local with music at its heart where you can eat, drink, and dance the night away. The walls will be covered with artwork and posters from the era, featuring musicians such as Gene Vincent, Fats Domino, and Chuck Berry while a rack of 30 old guitars are strung up above the length of the bar. Elsewhere, there’s diner booth seating, ‘50s TVs, record players, board games, a slot machine, and vintage lighting, all harking back to the glory years of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
On the menu, you’ll find classic diner and pub food, including Little Bites such as Little Richards, mini pork sausages in honey mustard, and Frikin Wings, coated in BBQ or Buffalo sauce. Other highlights include The Famous Elvis Sandwich, toasted bloomer bread, mashed banana, peanut butter and bacon; Hound Dog, Saveloy, Fried Caramelised Onions; Be-Bopa-Burger, aged Scottish beef, tomatoes, gherkins, and mustard; Chick Berry Burger, free-range chicken breast in home-made jerk seasoning; BB King Ribs, spicy BBQ Ribs, Chunky Chips, Slaw, Salad; and Fats Domino Pizza, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella & Cheddar Cheese. For dessert, there’s a classic American pie or the James Brownie, both served with ice cream.
Every Sunday there’s Rock ‘n’ Roasts, featuring rock ‘n’ roll tunes and a choice of roasts including Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, or Cashew and Mushroom Wellington, all served with roast potatoes, veg, and a Yorkshire pudding.
For drinks, there’ll be a range of American beers including Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas IPA, plus Be-Bop-A-Lula has teamed up with the local Hammerton Brewery to offer their Islington lager exclusively in the area.
A fun local pub with regular live bands, Rock-aoke (strictly pre-60s karaoke), live sports, and a late license until 2am on weekends. What more could you ask for aye??
