Situated in the heart of Mayfair, the elegant marble dining room at 8 Mount Street is the perfect new setting for a business bite or the impeccable ladies-who-lunch set.
On a rainy Monday evening we understandably found it a little quiet but at least this meant the staff were extra attentive!
We’d recommend starting your evening in the cosy basement Bar 8 with a delicious glass of champagne.
While you peruse the menu be sure to snack on the breakfast radishes bought to your table.
The modern European menu has so many tempting classics on it that we struggled to choose!
The pecorino crème brûlée, with aged balsamic & red onion marmalade sounded too interesting to pass up. A huge portion, we’d recommend sharing this!
The carpaccio of tuna, sumac and lime sounded like a lighter, fresher option so there’s something for everyone. Or go for the simple but fresh burrata with tomatoes, basil and East London honey. You can take the girl out of Hackney…
Main courses continue the decadent theme, Lobster Linguini anyone? However the extensive menu features a selection of strong meat & fish courses. Try the Dover Sole, served simply with lemon and herbs or the grilled marinated lamb cutlets with smoked aubergine for a nod to the Middle East.
Don’t leave without a nightcap, the Tokaji is so good you may never leave! Pair it with the generously sized cheeseboard, sit back and forget about the outside world for a while.
