A brand new bar located in the Hilton, London Bankside, a few minutes walk from both Southwark and London Bridge.
The Distillery is based in former essence factory, Stevenson & Howell’s Works, open in the 1800s. Using this heritage as inspiration, they have created a signature cocktail menu using carefully created and hand-crafted aromatics, infusions and bitters. A wide range of gins and local craft beers are also on offer.
The cocktail menu is varied and eclectic, the Bankside Mule is a mix of Bombay Sapphire, lime juice, rosemary-ginger syrup and ginger ale, and has a fiery kick. The Golden Tattoo (El Dorado 3 years, Sailor Jerry spiced rum, lime-guava juice and passion fruit purée) has a fruity, but not overpowering, finish and the Twilight 24 (Beefeater 24, blackberry and mint syrup, lime juice and Sicilian lemonade) is light and refreshing.
The bar also offers a range of bar snacks and sharing platters. Chickpea and tahini hummus with warm garlic Khobez bread, five spice-dusted pork belly with chilli, lime and soy dressing, and mini cheeseburgers were particular highlights. They were the perfect size for a quick snack to accompany a cocktail. Or why not order a few for a DIY ‘tapas’!
Open from 5.30pm, seven days a week, The Distillery is a great spot Bankside for an after-work tipple or pre-theatre beverage!
