Every Tuesday evening Reverend JW Simpson hosts its incredibly popular series of informative, interactive and innovative Spirited Sermons master-classes.
The Reverend will be praising and preaching about some of the world’s oldest and most fascinating spirits, offering delicious new takes on classic recipes before inviting guests to try their hand at shaking them to life.
We checked out the recent ‘Best of British Brandy with the Somerset Cider Brandy Company ‘ totally unaware of Brandy cider, what it tastes like or whether we would even enjoy it. We came away informed, slightly merry and very much converted to the ways of this old fashioned tipple! A new staple for the drinks cabinet for sure!
Running throughout the next couple of months, every Tuesday, there are many more opportunities to hear wonderful anecdotes, taste some amazing concoctions and try your hand at cocktail making. Book ahead to avoid disappointment and go with mates for a decent evening out!

9th February 2016 | Say Cheese with Black Cow Vodka
Introducing a fascinating addition to the vodka world, Black Cow is a vodka unbelievably distilled from milk. Transforming ‘whey’ into a milk-beer this is then distilled and triple-filtered to create a singular vodka. The curds are then used to make the Black Cow Deluxe Cheddar. This evening will guide guest through the concurrent cheese and spirit production methods of this award-winning liquid.
23rd February 2016 | No Scotch, Just Bourbon & Rye with Bulleit Bourbon
Whiskey Ambassador Andrea Montague will walk guests through one of the most successful categories of spirits and will introduce the distinct flavours and history of Bulleit Bourbon & Bulleit Rye.
8th March 2016 | Reinventing Vermouth with Regal Rogue
From their award-winning Australian wine bases to their creative use of rare and complex botanicals, Regal Rogue have taken a staunchly traditional category and turned it on its head. Guests will be lead through the creation and cocktail making potential of each these delicious drinks.
22nd March 2016 | Best of British Gin with Tarquin’s Gin
The Southwestern Distillery founders have worked with local Cornish ingredients and suppliers to create creating not only a new take on gin, but also a fantastic Pastis amongst other interesting creations.
5th April 2016 | Changing Course with Compass Box Whisky
World-renowned whisky producer John Glaser has decades of experience in the whisky business. Under the Compass Box name, he has created some of the best and most interesting whiskies ever made. Multi-award winning, occasionally controversial, always stunning, Compass Box whiskies utilise traditional and modern methodology from the whisky world, regularly inventing new ways of making great liquids.
