Humble Grape comes to Fleet Street!

An independent wine-merchant, based in London since 2009, HG have launched in Fleet Street with an impressive space in keeping with its recently opened Battersea location, with exposed brick walls, trendy modern furniture and cool lighting.

Order a bottle (or a glass if you have more restraint than us!) to drink alongside delicious Mediterranean inspired small plates as well as cheese and meat platters. Think porcini mushroom arancini with a pistachio crust, white crab salad in a filo cup or salmon and beetroot cakes with a lemon and buttermilk dressing – all perfect post work accompaniments. The Italian meat platter, cheese and focaccia are generous portions that will ensure you don’t get too tipsy.

Or if you’re in more of a rush? Forget your local corner shop and grab an award winning fancy bottle with a story to impress your dinner host.

That’s right, the knowledgeable staff at Humble Grape, can tell you who created every wine and if you’re interested tell you a little more about the various wineries.

Our top choices included the Weingut Von Winning Riesling, a 2013 wine from Pfalz, Germany which as its name indicates, has won a number of prizes. It’s sister a Pinot Gris called Dr Deinhard Grauer Burgunder is another great white option. We must say those Germans make some pretty decent wines! Another one we loved (ok, we loved them all!) was the Allimant-Laugner Rosé Crémant from Nicolas Laugner’s small family winery in Alsace, France. Most wines are biodynamic, organic or come from sustainable vineyards.
