Lower Clapton Road has got it going ON. Del 74 have upped the ante with their banging taco hotspot in what used to be Klub Trop (don’t let that put you off).
The décor is pretty eclectic, the playlist is banging and the margaritas are lethal. Trust us – we have the hangovers to prove it. Grab a pew and start ticking off your desired eats from the concise menu, find a friendly waiter to hand it too and pretty soon you’ll be in taco nirvana.
Start with a great big bowl of fresh guac, move onto the steak quesadilla and at least 3 tacos per person. The fish taco, filled with crunchy slaw, was one of our faves and the slow cooked lamb barbacoa with coriander and onion deserves a look in too. Reasonably priced, authentic and fun, we re-ordered a round of quesadillas because they were so damn good. Guilty!
The dudes behind this joint are pretty great guys. Both born in 1974 (hence the name) Jorge & Enrique know their Mexican shit inside out. Starting life in Tabasco Mexico, Enrique moved to NYC before starting Boho Mexica in London (RIP). Jorge used to be a drummer & is besties with Nuno Mendes and well – you just need to meet him. You’ll know him when you see him (look out for the hair!).
Everyone’s mates with everyone on this road so it’s the perfect FriYAY night crawl. Kick things off next door at our favourite wine place in town – P.Franco and end your night with Espresso Martinis at Lion.
They don’t really have a website but you can see what’s going on here.
See you at the bar!
