CLAW is a new pop-up serving fresh, locally-sourced crab in Dalston’s award-winning pub, The Three Compasses.
Started by Fabian Clark, winner of the Virgin Foodpreneur Award in 2015, CLAW is on a mission to put crab back on British plates as around 80% of British crab is exported into Europe. Fabian has come up with a menu using British, quality produce. He uses only traceable, sustainable crab sourced from Start Bay in Devon, bread from Celtic Bakery, cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy and vegetables from Borough Market.
The menu is made up of five burgers, The Samphire (Devonshire hand-picked crab, iceberg lettuce, samphire, CLAW sauce) and The Kimchi (Devonshire hand-picked crab, iceberg lettuce, kimchi, sriacha remoulade) put the crab centre stage. Each uses a mix of flavours that complement and don’t overpower the fresh crab flavour.
If you’re after something less crab-y, grab one of the Shrimp, Octopus or Veggie burgers instead. There are also sides on offer, Crab Mac & Cheese, Freshly-made Slaw and Crab and Mozzarella Arancini – small, fried risotto balls that are absolutely delicious – we highly recommend!
The Three Compasses is also teaming up with East London Liquor Company to create delicious paired cocktails which include an innovative Bloody Mary using Guinness, oyster sauce and CLAW’s secret sauce!
And if that’s not enough, for the first time The Three Compasses will also offer a brunch menu between 11-4 at the weekend. The menu includes a BLT, Crab Grilled Cheese with Chilli and Coriander and more.
CLAW is only popping up until the end of January 2016 so get down there quick before the crabs can escape!
