When in Amsterdam…

Sleep…

There really is only one place to stay when in Amsterdam. And that my friends is the brand spanking new The Hoxton. Designed by the style gods above, these guys have thought of EVERYTHING. It’s so achingly cool that it really took all my self-control to leave at the end of my stay rather than move in permanently. So beautifully designed, right on the canal, the comfiest beds ever, free water at the desk, a magical complimentary brekkie, artisan chocolate sold at supermarket prices, free calls to ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, an old school photo booth for the ultimate selfie, loads of great spaces to hang and incredible staff that you’ll forget are staff because you’ll want them to be your new BFF.

Eat…

Pluk – A bright and breezy, uber-healthy hot spot. Go for brunch or lunch and chow down on acai bowls, salads, smoothies and juices. Deliciously Ella would be right at home.

Ree7 – Really similar to Pluk but maybe a little cosier with a warming basement area and just a couple of doors down! Similar menu but you can also get a juicy burger, a warming plate of tortellini or a good ol’ panini here, as well as a glass of wine! So perfect if your crew isn’t quite on the same healthy bandwagon as you!

Lavinia – Ok, so Deliciously Ella has actually been here – who knew the Dam was so jam-packed full of healthy goodness. Grab a spelt pizza and a veggie cocktail (that’s a smoothie to you and me).

Bak – Unbelievably good value in the most romantic of settings. Located on the top floor of a warehouse, with incredible views over the canals, there is no menu at Bak. It changes each day. You’re in the best of hands though as they bring you 5 inventive course (one of ours was severed in a smoking egg, we kid you not) which can be matched with wine. But wait, it’s only 69 euro WITH wine! How? We have no idea. At home this would set you back well over 100 quid a head. The best experience.

Lotti’s – Again, located inside The Hoxton, Lotti’s is from the masterminds behind Soho House – so you know it’s gonna be slick. We tried out their set group menu which was BANGING – and really reasonably priced – as well as breakfast where you can get your avo on toast fix.

Drink…

Not to harp on about The Hoxton but we really loved the bar in the hotel for a pre-dinner drink, it’s full of the most beautiful people. Grab a Sandy Dutchman, sit back, relax. You may not make it out.

Otherwise we just hung out in traditional little bars/pubs /cafes.

Reguiliers dearsstraat – is a street full of bars if you want a guaranteed busy place to head!

Foodhallen – like a posh food market. Think a mix between Borough Market and Street Feast

We were on a hen do so the things we did probably aren’t what you’re looking for here 😉
