Just over five years since first launching in Clapton, Yard Sale Pizza is heading to Hackney Road to open its fifth shop this September. Having built up a loyal neighbourhood following over the years from its Clapton, Finsbury Park, Walthamstow, and Leytonstone shops, the Hackney Road location will be Yard Sale’s biggest opening yet, a two-floor space on one of east London’s most vibrant streets.
The Hackney Road shop will bring Yard Sale’s pizzas to a whole new community of residents and businesses, with its delivery area now reaching into Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Hoxton, and London Fields. Woohoo! Another Yard Sale first, the Hackney Road shop will be open from midday Monday to Sunday, meaning that you’ll finally be able to get a midweek office lunch break Yard Sale fix. We’re almost looking forward to our next hangover for this reason alone.
In honour of this, Yard Sale will be launching with an outrageously good brand-new special calzone menu which will be available Monday to Friday lunchtimes only:
Vegan
Black beans, vegan mozzarella, smashed avo & pink onions (hot sauce optional)
Veggie
Spinach ricotta, roasted mushroom, mozzarella, pecorino and truffle oil
Meat
Regular pepperoni, cobble lane pepperoni, nduja, mozzarella, ricotta and guindilla chillies
Special
Pork sausage, mozzarella, roasted shallots and chimichurri sauce
Central to Yard Sale’s success is, of course, the incredible pizza for which it has become known, and the new Hackney Road shop will be no different. Each pizza is handmade from double fermented dough in either 12” or super-size 18”, then topped with banging ingredients, before being stone-baked for perfect bubbly crusts. Yard Sale signatures such as the epic ‘Holy Pepperoni’ with Cobble Lane pepperoni, napoli piccante, and crumbled nduja sausage; our favourite, the ‘TSB’ with tender stem broccoli, parmesan, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil; and the vegan ‘Herb Your Enthusiasm’ with grilled artichokes, olives, red onion, and salsa verde, will be present and correct along with regular specials.
A selection of homemade dips, salads, sides such as the infamous cheese and marmite garlic bread, Happy Endings ice cream sandwiches, local London beers, Borough Wines, and soft drinks complete the menu line-up for Hackney Road.
Locals can also look forward to Yard Sale’s regular collaboration ‘Love Ins’ with some of the best chefs and restaurants in London and beyond, which have included the Burns Night haggis pizza with Deeney’s; the pastrami calzone with Monty’s Deli; the Mexican al pastor pizza with Breddos Tacos; the jerk chicken pizza with White Men Can’t Jerk; the Nagaland lamb with Rola Wala; the epic burger-pizza / pizza-burger cross-collaboration with Patty & Bun; the Chilli Con Carner with musician Loyle Carner; and the New York-inspired specials from visiting guest chefs Frank Pinello of Best Pizza, and Matty Matheson.
Located at 184 Hackney Road, the space will feature a ground floor with high seating and leather booths, and the open kitchen with its standout Marana Forni pizza oven. In the downstairs room there’ll be a small bar and a flexible space for 32 seated to dine in or private hire. The walls of both floors will be adorned with custom neon signage and Yard Sale’s popular range of merchandise, including limited edition t-shirts and scarves.
Not ones to cut corners, Yard Sale operate their own in-house delivery service across all of their shops to ensure the highest-quality locally delivered pizza (you won’t find them on any third-party delivery apps) so guests can be assured their pizza will always arrive hot and fresh out the kitchen.
The oven is fired up and the finishing touches are being made for the launch of Yard Sale Pizza Hackney Road. And next week they are celebrating with 50% off pizza, from the 24th to the 28th for dine-in and collection.
As well as half price pizza, this will also be the first opportunity to try the four brand new calzones that Yard Sale have created exclusively for the Hackney Road shop. They are lunchtime-only however, so calzone fans will need to head down during the day to get a taste.
From Monday 30th September, Yard Sale Pizza Hackney Road will be open as normal, seven days a week.
