Firefly have launched Superfly, a brand new botanical blend set to complement those lighter, brighter days ahead. Created with award-winning bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana AKA Mr Lyan, the floral bottle – inked with Mr Lyan’s signature – will be available exclusively in Selfridges as well as at Mr Lyan’s bars.
Following the success of Firefly’s Kiwi, Lime & Mint combination as a soft take on the classic Mojito, the partnership takes full advantage of Mr Lyan’s world-renowned mixology skills and botanical know-how.
Superfly blends Cascara, a cherry-like by-product from coffee production, Wormwood, a bitter herb used traditionally in vermouth, bitters and absinthe, with the energising and aphrodisiac Kola Nut. Notes of Green Coffee add an adult, dry finish and the aromatic fruitiness of grapefruit and redcurrant helps to fashion a unique alternative for those abstaining, whilst playing to characteristics of socialisation, and stimulation usually found in a bar environment.
Ryan Chetiyawardana said; ‘Superfly takes all the learnings I’d usually apply to a (boozy) cocktail and frame this in the idea of helping people get together over a drink. Without being sticky and sweet, or really on alcohol, Superfly has a bright bittersweet finish using many of the botanicals found in historic spirits, and those used as uplifting stimulants, aphrodisiacs and liveners or to encourage socialisation.’
Best served in a tall glass with a sprig of mint or mixed with your favourite spirit (Ryan recommends scotch or gin!).
