Upstairs expect homemade, wholesome, favourites using only locally sourced or artisan Italian ingredients whilst downstairs…
Expect the unexpected. Because below the main shop is an intimate dining room that plays host to Mamma Anna and Co’s social dining events. Either book the room out for a group of you or, as we did, dine amongst strangers and get to know everyone around the table whilst enjoying a great Italian dinner.
The room is an ode to the family’s own dining room and is fleshed out with elements of home furnishing, pictures and maps of Italy. The dining table fits 8 or so people – perfect for that intimate social dining experience.
I can’t give away too much of the menu, though it is ever changing and they encourage you to guess what ingredients have gone into the dishes – plus a subtle theme that runs throughout the meal (which I would never have guessed!)
But I will urge you to ask about their homemade pesto and what goes in to making their pasta.
I’m not usually a big fan of being thrown into a room and made to chat to strangers but the overall experience was great, incredibly relaxed and the food was perfect. Each course was complemented with the right wine and you leave feeling as if you have been a part of something quite special – knowing that Mamma Anna herself is upstairs creating the amazing dishes from scratch.
THIS EVENT HAS NOW ENDED.
