On a cold, rainy evening in November we can think of nothing better than eating delicious pizza and drinking red wine, wishing we had the jet set lifestyle we surely deserve and could actually be sitting overlooking the Mediterranean. While we wait for this to happen (one day…) Rossopomodoro is here for us!
Rossopomodoro started in Naples and is on a mission to bring authentic Neapolitan food to London. They offer seasonal flavours and all of the delicious Italian dishes you would expect. They also offer gluten-free pizzas and dietary information is available to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We started with the Crostoncini, slices of grilled bread served with a sun-dried tomato, black olive and caper dipping sauce. The sweet and salty flavours blended perfectly and we could happily have filled up on this starter by itself!
The range of pasta on offer all sounded delicious but the sound of the Ventura pizza (mozzarella, parma ham, rocket, Parmesan and basil) was too tempting. Usually served without the Italian plum tomato sauce, we added this on, alongside some spicy Nduja sausage – it’s our new pizza obsession! The base was thin in the middle but crusty round the edge, just the way we like it, and the toppings were spread evenly, and generously, around the whole pizza.
Feeling stuffed, the dessert menu was presented to us but it would really be rude to not try the Gelatino (three scoops of Italian ice cream) and Tiramisu (home-made coffee tiramisu with Nutella cream). Three flavours of creamy gelato were devoured alongside the GIANT portion of tiramisu that was covered in Nutella – tiramisu AND Nutella! Amazing!
