Jones and Sons

I’m writing this very hungover.

It’s not my fault though – the house red at Jones & Sons is too bloody good to resist and before you know it you’re staggering home at midnight in a warm fuzzy glow.

Jones & Sons is the latest restaurant to hit Dalston offering up Brunch, Dinner and a good old Sunday Roast.

Located in the old Arcola Theatre space, these guys have turned a blank canvas into a cool industrial space, perfectly in keeping with the area. Check out the “shed” they’ve come up with to view the kitchen through.

We were lucky enough to try almost everything on the menu and we’re really blown away with the value.

Starters included classic Heritage Tomato Salad with Goat’s Curd, Cured (on-site) Salmon with Beetroot and perfectly cooked Scallops on a bed of parsnip Puree and sprinkled with Vegetable Crisps. Pigeon Breast, came in a decedent jus and the Potted Pork with Pear Coleslaw and Crackling was a meat lover’s dream!

Mains continued to wow us – Sea Bream was beautifully seasoned with a crisp skin. Rib Eye Steak was some of the best of had. A little birdy tells me a well known steak joint offers the very same cut at the eye watering price of £32. Here it’s just £16. Roast Cod with Cockles looked pretty as a picture and tasted even better, while the lamb chops came with a refreshing cucumber and mint dip.

Luckily you’ll definitely want to return so you’ll get to try them all eventually!

Desserts started a girl/boy divide – the boys all loved the Orange & Ginger Cheesecake while the Girls went gooey over the Puffed up Chocolate with Almond Ice-cream. Both loved the Treacle Tart with clotted cream. Seems like the only fair way is to order all three.

We loved the evening so much we returned for a roast that very Sunday. Offering up our favourites from the main menu with the wonderful addition of Roast Sirloin, Leg of Lamb or Pork Belly this is a great option for a big group of friends and family! The portions were filling and the sides were divine – cauliflower cheese better then your nana makes!

All in all this is a great value neighbourhood restaurant dishing up really great quality dishes.

Friday night, date night, Saturday Brunch with the Girls, Sunday Roast with all the gang. My weekend’s sorted. x
