Homeburger

We’ve all attempted delivery burgers by now. If it’s been anything like our experience, they just don’t work. The bun falls off en route leaving the contents rattling about, leaving it for you to reconstruct on arrival. Not ideal.

Well – Homeburger have absolutely NAILED IT.

Before we go on – let’s clear something up. We are complete burger snobs. We’ll rarely order one in a restaurant as they never live up to the street food styles of Bleecker Street, Patty & Bun & Honest Burgers. So we were looking for a banging burger that also survived the journey.

Well those clever little beans at Homeburger have come up with a genius box for their burgers that keep everything firmly in place. Beyond that the burgers are bloody good.

We tried the Bacon Bungalow with cheese which came in a soft but slightly toasted bun with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and pickles as well as a fried onion relish and a secret ‘homesauce’ that we loved. All the burgers arrive pink in the middle so as not to overcook them (even more important when they have to travel – no one wants a dried out bit of meat).

It was a decent size but we couldn’t resist the strong side game these guys have going on. Go for the couch potato tots which are crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and come with a delicious smokey bbq mayo on the side. Or if you’re being a complete pig – there’s Mac & Cheese. There are even burger SALADS if you’re mental watching your waistline. Wash it all down with a filthily rich salted caramel & honeycomb shake or a craft beer.

Next time you get a burger itch, scratch it with Homeburger.

*UPDATE* Those clever cats at Homeburger are now answering our hangover woes with Breakfast in Bread. A filthy combo of sausage patty, American cheese, smoked streaky bacon, hash brown, grilled tomato, baked bean puree, fried egg squished into a toasted bun. Where you choose to eat it is up to you…
