Bottomless Sunday Roast at Hubbard & Bell, The Hoxton

Crummbs Restaurant Reviews Hubbard & Bell The Hoxton

Calling all Sunday Roast fans!

Remember that time you managed to eat 20 of your nana’s roast potatoes? Of course you do, she still talks about it. Well Hubbard and Bell at The Hoxton, Holborn, understand that roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings are the best bit of the almighty Sunday roast and have upgraded the most important meal of the week accordingly.

There’s a choice of slow-roasted pulled lamb shoulder or herb-fed spatchcock chicken for the meat eaters, or a truffley mushroom wellington for the veggies. All priced at 20 quid, you’ll get ALL the trimmings whatever you order – think roast heritage carrots, honey-roasted parsnips, caramelised chicory, proper gravy (or porcini gravy for veggies), plus delicious roasties and Yorkshires that will keep coming ‘til you’re stuffed. Yep that’s right, your friendly waiter will keep coming back with a fresh plate of piping hot roasties and puds until you pop. Trust us, they are very happy to oblige. Just like your nana in fact.

We love kick-starting our Sunday morning with a hangover busting bloody mary and at The Hox, there’s an entire menu dedicated to the dreamy drink. The spicy classic is still our favourite (and they do it so well) but there’s also a refreshing green version with cucumber, an orange one with carrot and horseradish and finally the Michelada with clamato juice and lager – not one for the faint hearted.

Save room for dessert though because there’s only one thing you should order and it’s a serious whopper. Designed to share (but we won’t tell if you don’t) the giant hot apple Yorkshire pudding pancake is loaded with bourbon caramel, pecans and THE dreamiest cornflake ice cream. I mean, just look at it…
