Turtle Bay Caribbean restaurant and bar is now open in Dalston, bringing a brand new, loud, proud and authentic Caribbean dining and drinking experience to the neighbourhood…
Newly opened on Dalston Square, Turtle Bay looks as vibrant with colour inside as the food is bold with flavour. If you enjoy relaxed, fun vibes and spicy flavourful food then you need to pay them a visit. If you haven’t already at one of their other popular restaurants around London.
The staff were super helpful with the menu and more than happy to offer up suggestions and name their faves.
You could happily pick at several starters or share some mains over a few cocktails as there is so much to choose from. We opted for a small feast of starters, sharing the Beach Food Platter – A selection of our spicy jerk chicken wings, pepper roti, sweet corn fritters and garlic ‘n’ herb flatbreads. Add to that the Duck Rolls, whitebait and the chilli squid and we were more than sorted! The chilli squid was amazing – it was hard not to keep going in for more.
Turtle Bay celebrates the lively, colourful, soulful and, above all, delicious experiences that the Caribbean has to offer – from rich and explosive flavours to laid back ‘liming’. Their mission is to capture the spirit of celebration that the Caribbean is famed for and they definitely achieve this!
We would definitely recommend a portion of the cheesy jerk fries or the spiced fries (or both!) which we had alongside our mains of Ribs and the smoked fish. The Jamaican Browned chicken One Pot was packed with flavour and served in a rustic pot but, for us, it was all too much and we had to take a lot home in doggy bags! Not that we’re complaining!
Caribbean food isn’t always first on the list of options when you’re looking for somewhere to eat but a visit to Turtle Bay definitely changes that. Especially with such awesome staff and a varied flavourful menu.
