You guys may have noticed that I’ve been hitting up BLOK – hard.
I’m not going to lie, the thought of walking down the aisle in front of 70 of our nearest and dearest is motivation enough to get me to the 6.30am classes.
However with all this focus on fitness, I can’t help but take a long hard look at my diet too. When I can, I’m trying to gravitate towards dishes that are low-calorie, high-protein and low-fat (well, at least until the big day – roll on November 9th!). Which doesn’t really sound like a barrel of laughs does it? And it certainly doesn’t sound like we’ll be doing much eating out.
Well, maybe. Turns out Pho have launched a brand spanking new Go Pho It Menu which is all that PLUS has gluten free and vegan options as well. Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?
Starters include the likes of spicy salad rolls (carb free little wonders clocking in at just 44 cals) or the enoki hand roll which is filled with crunchy veg, mushrooms and fine vermicelli before being wrapped up in rice paper. Of course the peanut dipping sauce hasn’t gone anywhere – thank GOD.
There’s a new cauliflower rice bowl section with all dishes clocking in at under 550 calories (with many of them much lower). Stodgy rice has been replaced with a layer of naturally lower carb cauliflower rice and is then topped with all their delicious wok-fried veg, pickles and peanuts before being finished with a portion of protein. Chargrilled pork, crispy beef and a three meat combo certainly doesn’t sound like diet food to us. Vegans, fear not – the tofu and veg is calling your name. Of course a visit to Pho isn’t complete without a bowl of their namesake – but to ensure it’s healthy they’ve switched the noodles for courgetti. Genius.
They’ve even got your back if you’re persevering with Dry January – the Nojito is a lime and mint muddle with homemade lemonade sans rum. To help with digestion they’ve got a cracking selection of feel good teas by teapigs – the Clean ‘n Green being a favourite of ours.
And to top it all off, the menu helpfully provides detailed nutritional advice (calories, fat, protein) so you can make informed choices when out.
As a Pho ambassador, I’m going to be putting Pho to the test until the end of Feb. We want to see if it can power us through those early morning workouts, and most importantly of all – will it allow me to squeeze into *THE* dress at my next fitting. It was pretty damn tight last time I tried it on.
WIN with Pho!
Of course we don’t want to be the only one having all the fun so we’re giving away a 50% off card which can be used at any Pho throughout January and February 2019. It will give you and a friend 50% off your food every SINGLE time you dine. We’ll also throw in four FREE pho cards as well which can be exchanged for a free bowl of the good stuff until the end of Feb.
A Pho feast for you and your pals. Hurrah!
