Like many, the English & Welsh wine industry has been badly impacted by the Coronavirus – via both tourism and the closure of restaurants.
However, they’ve come up with a nifty way you can help – and it involves drinking wine. Interested? We thought so!
#theBIGenglishwinegoodfriday
WHAT:
An online English & Welsh wine tasting extravaganza, which has inadvertently snowballed from a tweet sent out by Jacob Leadley, the winemaker of Hampshire’s Black Chalk, last Friday: “If every person in the UK that loves English or Welsh wine bought a bottle direct from their favourite producer I think we might secure an entire industry and their workforce on one very enjoyable evening.”
WHO: Several English winemakers – and the wider UK wine industry – will be uploading videos of them tasting various English wines on Good Friday.
WHEN: 7pm, 10th April (Good Friday)
WHERE: Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook…
HOW PEOPLE CAN GET INVOLVED:
Buy a bottle of English or Welsh wine either direct from a vineyard or a retailer currently delivering in time for 10th April. This can be your nearest vineyard/retailer, one that you particularly like, or one you’ve heard about but yet to try. Upload a video or shot of you tasting with the hashtag #theBIGenglishwinegoodfriday
There is a great list of wineries & specialist retailers (many with special offers) here.
