The Black Penny

A modern café located on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden, this is the healthy lunch spot you’ve been looking for!

If The Black Penny looks busy, make sure you push your way inside as there is a lovely little area out the back just calling out for you to have lunch in!

Head Chef George Notley has created a menu which offers a range of traditional breakfast items including Bircher Muesli and pastries together with delicious fresh fruit compotes in innovative flavour combinations such as Grilled Pineapple, Chilli & Lime. The menu also includes a selection of larger dishes such as Crispy Duck Hash with a Poached Duck Egg, Sweet Potato, Baby Spinach and Spring Onion and Slow Braised Black Penny Beans on Sour Dough with Goat’s Curd and Chives.

At lunch choose from a selection of fresh, seasonal salads, including Chargrilled Cauliflower & Roasted Aubergine and Black Quinoa with Avocado, and add your choice of protein – the chicken leg was so bloody tasty, we recommend!

On top of this there are more substantial dishes, like Stone Bass Ceviche with Fennel & Radish and Ox Tail, Ale & Kale Pie on offer. You can even grab a glass of prosecco like we did!

Fancy checking them out?

They’ll be taking part in Thursday’s National Burger Day – forget a greasy meat patty, here you’ll get a rosemary bap wrapped around that slow-roasted, corn-fed pulled bbq chicken (the stuff we fell in love with above!), with red cabbage, fennel and parsley coleslaw!

AND they are offering 20% off the burger to mark the occasion!

Perfect excuse to check them out we say!
