Shutterbug

Celebrating their 1st Birthday with new season experimental crepes and bespoke cocktails in the heart of Shoreditch.

Based in Rivington Place, this tucked-away gem serves bespoke cocktails and proper French crepes while paying homage to the area’s important artist community. Light boxes inside showcase emerging photographers, while the giant mural in the courtyard is a changing art space for local artists. Currently on display is work from East London tribal pop print artist Camille Walala http://www.camillewalala.com. Weekend nights fill up with Shoreditch party people, with DJs on until 1am and great heated outdoor area to hang out in.

The cocktail list is the creation of Charlie McCarthy from All About The Cocktail http://www.allaboutthecocktail.com/ and draws on Shutterbug’s photography theme with favourites such as the Hasselbladdy Mary – a mezcal twist to the brunch classic, the LaChapelle of Kitsch – as weird and wonderful a cocktail as you would expect and the Weegee the Famous blood and sand cocktail. Last on the list is the topical ‘selfie’ – a changing cocktail that customers get to mix themselves. Currently on the list is the Montana/Wrecking Ball – an easy going bourbon ice tea with a side serve of Jaegermeister, complete with ice ball and frozen ‘tongue’.

The crepe menu combines Shutterbug classics, which includes the popular pulled pork and pickles crepe with a changing weekly list of chef’s crepes. This week includes an autumnal spinach, ricotta and nutmeg or for the more adventurous there is the gorgonzola, bacon and radicchio with caramelised onions. While the toppings may be adventurous, Parisian chef Roman Raggouin uses a traditional French recipe with buckwheat flour (great for customers with wheat/gluten free diets). The sweet crepes range from the traditional lemon and sugar through to red velvet; salted caramel, popcorn and mascarpone or a rocky road crepe that is everything as sweet as you would imagine.
