Whether you’re after stellar views courtesy of Seabird, a night under canvas at Camp Hox or a delicious afternoon, tasting 4 pop-up’s under one roof, The Hoxton seem to be on fire right now. We’ve noticed these guys have been giving The Hoxton, Holborn a little spruce up recently and today we discovered it had been to make way for Rondo – a sexy new restaurant and wine bar.
Officially opening on Tuesday 1st September, Rondo has been created in collaboration with none other than William Lander, co-owner of Quality Chop House, Portland, and Clipstone. As you might expect from such a stellar CV, the wine list is pretty damn special, featuring some of Europe’s most exciting winemakers. A huge wine wall at the end of the restaurant is the centrepiece of the room, with bottles stacked high on wooden shelves, and gleaming chrome taps which dispense Rondo’s house wines from kegs. You won’t find any boring house styles here, no sirree.
Over in the kitchen, things are equally exciting, with Chris Gillard at the helm (having racked up a previous stint of 15 years at St John). We’re told the menus will be focusing on simple, seasonal ingredients, however, they’re far from forgettable. Look out for the likes of smoked mackerel served on the bone, alongside beetroot and horseradish or crispy pig’s cheek ‘salad’ with roast shallots and watercress.
Like the sound of this? From today until the 31st August Rondo are offering 25% off the food bill. Better get in there quickly!
