Pomona’s

If you’re looking for something bright and cheerful to welcome in 2017 – it’s got to be newly opened Pomona’s.

The West-Coast/Californian-inspired restaurant hits you straight in the face with its vibrant colour palette & leafy pot plants inspired by Hockney Malibu Pop Art.

The menu is just as bright as the surroundings. Dishes focus on the healthy, clean flavours of the West Coast, without being overly health-nut crazy.

Start off with a couple of small plates to share. We loved the smoked mackerel on sourdough with a subtle jalapeno/ginger/mint pesto. The soft shell crab comes in a light, tasty batter with smoked garlic and tarragon butter. Whilst the steak tartare with lardo and shredded kimchi was almost too pretty too eat.

For a plate of pure Cali sun, opt for the beautiful sea bass on saffron pearl couscous – it’s sure to put a smile on your face. The Caesar salad is done PROPERLY with a punchy anchovy sauce, just what we’d expect from an American-style restaurant. Add avo if you’re feeling virtuous or buttermilk chicken if you’re not.

For an upmarket twist on good ol’ bread and butter pudding, end your meal with the caramelised croissant and prune pie with crème anglaise. Or sink another cocktail – they have a strong after dinner selection such as the super decadent white chocolate daiquiri with rum, green chartreuse, Lillet, white cacao and lime.

With light, bright food that’s a treat for your eyes and your tummy, we think this will be a hit with the Notting Hill brigade.

Be sure to check out the toilets before you leave.
