We’re BORED with cooking. There, we said it. So we naturally jumped at the chance to try a delivery from One Fine Dine…
Way fancier than any takeaway could ever be, One Fine Dine describes themself as a ‘re-fined at-home dining experience’. But what exactly does that mean?
It’s basically a home delivery service where everything is prepared for you, leaving you to just heat and plate. Our meal arrived in a big box with the easiest to follow instructions (or you can watch a YouTube video if that’s your cup of tea). It even comes with a printed menu so you’re going to want to get the good cutlery out.
Not only is it ridiculously easy but One Fine Day is very exact with their plating instructions, so the finished result, legit looks like something you might get at a restaurant. The team behind the brand started out serving first-class food in private jets so you can imagine the quality we’re talking about here.
There is an array of courses, including vegan, vegetarian and halal options alongside desserts and canapes. And there’s also a full drinks menu if you fancy a fabulous wine pairing. We highly recommend the Noble Vines Chardonnay from California.
Our romantic evening in began with soft-boiled quails egg ‘scotch’ eggs, wrapped with roasted red quinoa, artichoke and truffle crumble. We made chef-y blobs of truffle cream and built the dish up with pickled girolles, more artichoke, and potato crisps. It tasted bloody fantastic (quite meaty despite being veggie) and it looked so impressive.
For our main course, we went for the blackened miso cod, served with sesame braised bok choi & leek. A delicious shiitake & miso broth was decanted into the ceramic pourers provided, and it was all served alongside pink ginger & amaranth salad. The portions were huge and while we thoroughly enjoyed it, it doesn’t come cheap at £36.95 a head. This is special occasion territory.
To round of the evening, decadent dark chocolate spheres sat on a sable biscuit and were garnished with fresh strawberries, honeycomb shards, and a mint infusion. We could absolutely have shared this as again, it was huge.
All in all, we absolutely loved the whole evening. Portions are super generous (can’t stress this enough!), the quality is top-notch and it all feels super special.
