Spicy plant-based takeaway from The Omni Collective

Omni Collective

Based in South-East London, The Omni Collective is run by George Matheou (ex-Ottolenghi & Duck Soup) & Jess McGill (Good In Bread) and is currently taking over Southwark’s Louie Louie

Since the pandemic, they’ve been operating as a takeaway, and we got to try the delicious new menu from the comfort of our own home!

They describe their fully plant-based menu as “modern, international” and take flavours and inspiration from around the world to create new and interesting combinations, favouring vegetables over fake meats (which results in a beautifully vibrant spread!)

We began with generously sized five-spice jackfruit croquettes, served alongside a glossy cherry hoisin sauce and crispy teriyaki broccoli. Colourful dishes include the gorgeous charred brussels sprouts with wasabi creme fraiche and super spicy ‘nduja’ style sundried tomato sourdough pizza.

Our favourite dish of the night was the ‘Firecracker’ cauliflower with aromatic chilli oil. We seriously need the recipe for that one and felt pretty smug when we remembered we’d saved a couple of bites for breakfast the next day. For dessert, there’s a decadent slab of chocolate and halva bar (but by that point, we reckon you’ll be pretty damn full!).

You can also add on their products, including a jar of their chilli achar, a fiery pickled pepper relish to pep up your day to day dishes. These guys are not afraid of the heat!
