New Delis is an Indian restaurant with a focus on healthy curry bowls and street food available to eat in if you have the time or take away with you if you don’t.
As seems to be the way with Indian restaurants – the service was impeccable so do eat in if you can spare the time!
We started with a warming bowl of Uncle Sam’s Spinach Soup, full of comforting lentils and fragrant spice, we loved the baby naan bread it was served with.
It’s worth ordering a few of the more unusual street food plates too, the Deli Papdi Chaat was a wonderfully sweet dish of chickpeas, potatoes and chutneys and unlike anything we’ve had elsewhere. However the BBQ broccoli was one of our favourite dishes – it comes in an oozy, creamy, cheesy sauce.
The customisable curry bowls are where you really get to have some fun! Simply choose a sauce, a protein and the level of heat you can handle and they’ll create your perfect lunch!
We loved the creamy butter masala with paneer and the aromatic runjabi dhaba – a thick brown onion sauce – was perfect paired with chicken. We opted for a medium heat that was super tasty and had a lovely warmth to it without blowing your head off. Healthy brown rice and a not so healthy garlic naan were the perfect accompaniments.
They also offer a similar set-up with stir-frys which would be a great option if you’re looking for a light, healthy but filling lunch that packs a punch in the flavour department.
