London’s Best Bun Fight… The Slider Decider 2015

Patties are being prepped and brioche baked – battle is about to commence for London’s tastiest tournament, The Slider Decider – and you can be front and centre for all the meaty mayhem.

 

On Thursday 4th June, some of the UK’s most talented and creative chefs will gather at The Gun, Docklands to showcase their slider skills and discover who deserves the ultimate title of Slider Decider Champion 2015.

 

Tickets to attend the culinary battle of the summer cost £20 and include a Camden Hells lager and two of The Gun’s own sliders. Throughout the evening select contestants from the heats will be holding live demos giving guests the chance to taste their signature slider creations!

From the huge number of entrants that fought to make the shortlist, 16 have been selected including last year’s returning champ Tim Anderson who is hoping to hold onto his crown with his “Wasted Away Again in Umcheesoville” creation.

 

Other innovative and downright delicious creations are coming from:

Maze Grill

Soft-shell crab spider slider – fried soft-shell crab, snow crab and spicy mayonnaise dipped in crab bisque

Iberica

Iberica Surf ‘n’ Turf burger – smoked burger bun, secreto Iberico pork patty, squid tallarines, crispy kale,

corn mustard, beetroot ketchup and San Simon cheese

Hixter

BLC Slider with a Holy F**k Mayonnaise, using Sillfield Farm bacon

and Holy F**k sauce from The Rib Man

Pachamama

Beef ‘pan con chicharron’ – aged beef patty, demi brioche bun, pork belly chicharron,

aji amarillo mayonnaise, mature Cheddar and avocado

Bone Daddies

Ramen Slider – Crispy noodle bun, chuck beef and pork fat patty, cheese, softshell crab, mizuna,

chipotle relish and ginger chilli mayo

 

 

These, and all the other worthy finalists, will fight it out from 6.30pm onwards (doors open at 6pm) in the award-winning Gun’s newly-updated outside space, The Spritz Shack, overlooking the Thames, in front of food fans from across the city and a stellar line-up of judges: acclaimed Sunday Telegraph restaurant critic Zoe Williams, creator of the Mr Hyde National Burger Day Jonathan Pile, Evening Standard food writer Rosamund Urwin, and Editor of Pub & Bar magazine Tristan O’Hana.
