Leman Street Tavern in Whitechapel, takes the staple characteristics of the great British pub and takes them to the next level…
It’s like a gastro pub but more polished. From fabulous breakfasts through to seasonal British dishes and fantastic whisky and wine libraries, Leman Street Tavern has it all covered.
The Leman Street Tavern menu focuses on British classics, with signature dishes including slow roasted quarter shoulder of lamb, ox cheek and bone marrow pie, and Dingley Dell pork faggot. On the marine front, the pub boasts some of the freshest fish (cod, sea bass and monkfish) this side of Billingsgate, plus Jersey Rock oysters at £2 each and Wild West Mersey Oysters, served with shallot or pickled cucumber dressing, at £2.50 a pop.
We were recommended the burger and had to give it a go as we’re very cynical of pub burgers and expected a heaped tower of lettuce and tomato under a dry sesame bun but was, to the contrary, pleasantly surprised! So if someone recommends you the burger at LST; they’re not lying! Similarly the ceviche starter was fresh and zesty – not what we’d expect from a British pub menu. so it seems LST is surprising on many fronts!
