THE IVY SOHO BRASSERIE

Cocktails that turn your lips gold, glow in the dark and smell like candy floss? We went along to The Ivy Soho Brasserie to check out the new cocktail and waffle menus.

Situated on Broadwick Street, right slap bang in the middle of Soho, The Ivy Soho Brasserie features all the beautiful details we’ve come to expect (including those multi-coloured stain glass windows). There are seats outside complete with heaters and blankets – perfect for people watching. However we headed inside to make our way through the new cocktail offering. And we think we’ll be popping back often. It’s just so much FUN!

Get your evening started with an Aphrodite – our favourite cocktail of the whole night and possibly the most girly too. Served in a flute, dusted in edible gold that turn your lips sparkly with every sip. Aside from that it tastes great too – frozen cranberry, Beefeater gin, fresh pink grapefruit juice and homemade pomegranate syrup is then topped with Prosecco.

The Illuminated Ivy is just as it sounds. A tumbler glows bright green (at least you won’t put it down and forget about it) and contains an Asian-inspired blend of Wyborowa vodka is mixed with home-made sake syrup and yuzu juice.

Proving they aren’t taking themselves too seriously, Burning Passion is basically the poshest Pornstar Martini you’re likely to get your hands on. Containing homemade vanilla infused vodka with fresh passion fruit, it’s finished with a flaming passion fruit which gives off the sweet candy floss aroma.

For something a little more masculine, the Social Smoker with bourbon and bitters creates quite the talking point with its liquid smoke poured from a cherry wood smoked carafe.

You’ll know by now that we are suckers for an espresso martini. The Ivy have created Free Love which is a mix of espresso liqueur, rum, amaretto and Baileys, complete with a heart on top. Essentially a dessert in a glass.

We’ve since been back to try their weekend waffle menu. You’ll be presented with a cute menu card and pencil for you to select your flavour (choose from Vanilla, Cinnamon or Lemon) and then go crazy with toppings.

We ended up with a Cinnamon waffle topped with Greek yoghurt, strawberries, glazed pecans and maple syrup. But with everything from salted caramel syrup, popping candy and pistachio ice cream on the menu, the combos really are endless.
