From tomorrow (25th January!) Smoking Goat Redchurch Street – the Thai barbecue bar in Shoreditch – will open its doors for breakfast from 10am Thursday to Sunday. To help kick things off, they’re kindly giving away free brekkie from 25th – 28st January.
Head Chef and co-owner Ali Borer has created a menu focused around freshly made roti, cooked from scratch on a charcoal skillet in the open kitchen. Most similar to the Indian influenced roti eaten in Penang, Malaysia the team have adapted Sous Chef Meedu’s childhood recipe. The rotis will accompany green curry with smoked brisket, burnt ends and curried saffron eggs with lardo. Larger breakfast and lunch dishes include an aromatic Thai style fried chicken with curry sauce from Het Yai (a Thai town famous for its fried chicken) and daily variations on D’tom Kha, a cleansing and heady fresh coconut milk and galangal soup served with smoked fish and bitter herbs. We’ll be wrapping things up with their freshly made doughnuts with Kachanaburi province wild honey.
Wash it all down with Vietnamese coffee (condensed milk – if you know, you know) and freshly squeezed juices such as honey dew melon, and Bar Manager Kajsa’s Thai take on a Bloody Mary.
‘On our last visit to Bangkok, we stumbled upon a guy tucking into a huge plate of goose at 10 o clock in the morning in a back-room of this canteen. That joyous, somewhat bizarre image sums up exactly what we want Smoking Goat in Shoreditch to be – a place for anyone to feast and drink, at any time of the day – whether a mid-morning roti and coffee-break or a beer and plate of drunken noodles after work with your mates” says Ali Borer.
Sounds like a concept we can get on board with!
The breakfast can be booked via their website http://smokinggoatbar.com/reservations/ and will be running for free 10am-3pm Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
