Covent Garden Grind

The Grind Group can do no wrong in our eyes. Getting it spot on every time is what we’ve come to expect from these kids and Covent Garden Grind is no exception.

Instagram perfection, we love their individual pink neon slogan lights and the marble table tops. We love their canny way of making Espresso Martinis appear as if by magic. We love how it’s just the perfect spot for a takeaway cup of joe in the morning and just as perfect for an after-work glass of vino. And now, NOW there’s food to accompany it all.

Situated on Maiden Lane, this branch opened just over a year ago, but due to kitchen restrictions, they’ve only just been able to rustle up any sustenance. The short menu is designed to complement the drinks (just the way we like it!) and is available from 5pm til 10pm.

Think small plates, designed to share, lovingly created by Kyle Boyce, Former Executive Chef of Soho House Group’s restaurants. There’s good ol’ creamy Burrata making an appearance (WHO doesn’t like Burrata) in a fresh summer salad with springy curls of beetroot and ciabatta. The salt cod brandade was HEAVEN on a plate – a must order if ever there was one. Think of it like a deconstructed fish pie, that you scoop up with garlic crostini. Yes PLEASE. Even the salads were great – kale with brown rice and middle eastern charred cauliflower was a strong veggie option and the sprout panzanella came atop creamy goats cheese. We may or may not have licked the plate clean. (Spoiler: we did).

Desserts are strong on the coffee front and whilst we wouldn’t advise affogato and an Espresso Old Fashioned – they are simply too delicious to resist. The insomnia is worth it.
