Cider vs Cheese

On MY BIRTHDAY or as more people may know it, the 18th May – lovely pub Hand of Glory (Hackney Downs) will be kicking off a 3 date ‘Cider vs Cheese’ residency!

The first one focuses on West Country ciders, made only using fresh pressed apples, love and traditional methods. No concentrate juice, water, chemicals, filtering or any of that nonsense, just proper cider. Oh and Perry, which is fermented pears. No such thing as Pear Cider.

You’ve been told.

Cider vs Cheese

It’s going to be paired expertly with some of the finest cheeses known to mankind, bought to you by the folk at Raw Cheese Power (who we LOVE!), The vanguard for artisan cheese makers, on a mission to defend their heritage, methods & livelihoods from the onslaught of the supermarkets & their legions of bland, processed food.

This isn’t a sterile tasting session with regimented rules of enjoyment- no floral notes or spitting into buckets- this is a journey into the dark art of cider making and maximum cheese pleasure, with health measures for all. You’ll enjoy cider from the producer who regularly gets abducted by aliens, supping Joe Strummer’s favourite tipple, and possibly a nip of the holy grail of the orchard- Cider Brandy. There’ll be enough anecdotes, history, magic and romance to impress your mates for at least a week afterwards.

Splendid.
