Chotto Matte

Soho favourite Chotto Matte has launched Steak and Sushi Sundays, and we went along for a first look…

Designed by Executive Head Chef, Jordan Sclare, the new menu celebrates the Japanese and Peruvian flavours that shape the restaurant’s signature Nikkei cuisine. It brings together two of the restaurant’s most popular sections — the sushi counter, and the robata grill.

The set menu begins with charred edamame, before moving onto a sharing selection of sushi. You can expect the likes of salmon nigiri shiso and marinated ikura; seabass nigiri with mustard miso picante salsa; chu toro nigiri with kizami wasabi salsa; yellowtail nigiri with jalapeno truffle dressing; spicy tuna crispy rice; yellowtail crispy rice; prawn cut roll and spicy tuna roll. Hell yea.

Next up is Yorkshire-sourced wagyu steak, cooked rare and sliced into tender chunks. You might want to swap your chopsticks for cutlery at this point as it’s served alongside smoked purple mash potato, red anticucho butter and oh-so-moreish green bean tempura.

It will set you back £50 a head, which we think is great value. Although you’ll obviously want to add a pisco sour or two on top.

“With sushi crowned our best-selling item, and our wagyu beef dishes second, it made sense to create a menu that merges the best of both, inspired by our guests. It’s been a long, culinary process to get this right and  I am confident that Chotto goers globally will thoroughly enjoy what’s to come.”  – Jordan Sclare, Executive Head Chef, Chotto Matte.

We can definitely think of worse ways to spend a Sunday… cheers!

The Steak & Sushi menu is priced at £50 per person. The full A La Carte will also be available. Reservations to try the menu can be found here: chotto-matte.com
